Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began an education in marine science at the Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard began her professional career in commercial seafood at the age of 1999, after she began working aboard the F/V Sunset 65' halibut schooner that has been a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. She has been who has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined to fight for their business. They both believe in conservation as well as profiting from renewable resources in the seafood industry. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard came back from her home in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. Its name is an affectionate reminder of her intimate expertise in fish biology as well as her husband's extensive involvement with the fishing industry, frequently leaving them separated for five months or more at a time as they work towards financial and environmental goals which reflect both their independence and commitment to their community wherever they reside.
